UB - University of Bucharest is one of the most important centres of scientific research in the country.

The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Department of Pedagogy, has the following objectives:
a) training students to become future specialists in the educational field;
b) developing the theoretical framework of educational studies in the context of the dynamics of education in Romania and in the wider world;
c) elaboration of studies and research papers relevant to the contemporary education and helpful in the implementation of the reform.

Ones of the main fields of interest are: Human resource management; Training of human resources in the field of education (in specialised centres of continual training of teaching staff and other institutions which offer continual training programmes); Management of educational institutions; Research in the field of education; Activities in non-governmental organisations: project elaboration, development and evaluation; Programmes of permanent education (in universities, institutions which offer qualification and professional redeployment, non-governmental organisations etc.); Consultancy activities and programme evaluation (in NGOs or other institutions requesting services in the field of programme design, development and evaluation); Survey of the design and implementation of curricula (in schools and in specialised institutions such as the National Curriculum Council, etc. ). The staff of the department of Educational Sciences was involved in designing and elaborating the national strategy for initial and continuing teacher training, as directors in the Ministry of Education.
